Which part of the island you choose to get married on can influence the atmosphere of your entire wedding. Perhaps you’d like a relaxed beachfront wedding or something rustic in the mountains? Maybe you’d prefer a traditional village wedding or make a feature of some of the historic architecture from Cyprus’ rich history. Whatever you choose, there’s somewhere on the island to suit your style and at only two hours to cross Cyprus, you’ve got your pick of the entire island!

1) Pafos (Paphos)

Located in the south west of the island, Paphos is perhaps the most popular holiday and wedding destination on the island. This bustling town is split into two parts with most of the holiday resorts in the coastal Kato Pafos area and the main town situated in Ktima and has the popular Coral Bay nearby. Paphos is a traditional harbour town with a charming, quaint feel to it and has plenty of beautiful beaches and historical sights to visit, along with the vibrant marina featuring its iconic fort. If you’re looking for an area with lots of options in terms of venue as well as plenty of activities for guests while taking advantage of ever so slightly cooler temperatures compared to the rest of the island, then Paphos is for you!

2) Lemesos (Limassol)

Limassol, much like Paphos is a traditional harbour town located to the south of the island. With an elegant old quarter with a busy market and plenty of tavernas and restaurants, Limassol has plenty of charm but also has an air of high class to it with its stunning beaches and luxurious hotels and a modern marina. It still holds plenty of history though, being home to the Cyprus Medieval Museum, Limassol Castle and Kolossi Medieval Castle to give you the best of both worlds.

Areas of Cyprus: Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca

3) Larnaka (Larnaca)

Larnaca, to the east of the island is a thriving seaside port with its own international airport. It is typically a more Cypriot-style resort and has a long line of majestic palm trees lining the seafront promenade with a striking castle at one end and a cosmopolitan yacht marina at the other end. The old town is historic and pretty but with the rise of tourism has seen improved, modern, upmarket facilities and hotels being built for holidaymakers so this is another area with the best of both worlds. There’s plenty of historical sites and interesting scenery, with the area being home to a salt lake which is full of pink flamingos in spring and being close by to the family friendly resort of Protaras and the lively nightlife in Ayia Napa, there is something for everyone in Larnaca.

4) Ammochostos (Famagusta)

Although most of the Famagusta region remains under Turkish control, the district is home to the most famous resorts on the east coast, Ayia Napa and Paralimni as well as family friendly resort Protaras. Well known for its lively nightlife, Ayia Napa is a hotspot for young travellers looking to party so it’s perfect if you’re looking to have a good time. Combined with some of the best white sandy beaches the island has to offer a wide variety of different hotels and accommodation and a popular waterpark, it makes a good base offering holidays all year round.

Areas of Cyprus: Famagusta, Troodos and Nicosia

5) Troodos

If you’re looking for a respite from the heat and prefer something a bit more rustic rather than a hotel beachfront wedding then the Troodos mountains are the place for you! Set in the heart of Cyprus, on a clear day you can see the ocean to the west from the top of Mount Olympus (yes, really!) The picturesque mountain range is home to plenty of traditional villages and monastries as well as fabulous ski resorts and even spas nestled in the mountains. Weddings here, much like the villages are quieter and more intimate with a rustic, traditional feel to them so are perfect if you’re looking to incorporate some traditional elements to your day and with some stunning scenery, you’ll be sure to get some fantastic photos to remember your day!

6) Lefkosia (Nicosia)

Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus to the north of the island and is often overlooked by visitors as it is not on the beach. The old town has been renovated and now features many charming cafes and open-air restaurants and shops within the narrow streets of the town. This historic town is not a resort but it is perfect if you are wanting a more traditional wedding with a Cypriot feel. While there are plenty of modern shops and upmarket cafes to be found, Nicosia boasts a fantastic Archaelogical Museum and the restored 18th century House of Hadjigeorgakis are both well worth a visit.
