There’s a lovely wedding trend at the moment of plants and plant seeds as wedding favours. I was recently at a wedding where the favours were small plant pots with an assortment of flower and herbs and the overall effect couldn’t have been lovelier. There are also some pretty good reasons to opt for this feature too…

One of the main plus points for having plants as your wedding favours is they really dress the table. Imagine a set of round tables – or long ones at that – with a small, flowering maybe, plant at each place setting. It would give the same effect as flowers, really. This is hugely money saving – most brides will be able to tell you the face they had when adding up figures for their wedding flowers – as you’d only have to cover the cost of the plants, which would be undoubtedly cheaper than cut flowers.

The other factor, and this I witness at the wedding, is they’re a really lovely gift. A lot of favours can be a little bit here of there and many often get left behind at the end of the day/evening. This is a shame, as a lot of effort goes into the wedding favours for them to be then left unloved. Sob! However, flowers or succulents or a potted herb are very attractive, useful even, gifts to leave your guests in memory of your day and so they’ll probably disappear, happily, with your guests.

An easier alternative to plants – especially if you’re transporting all your wedding bits from the UK to Cyprus and so don’t have much space – is to have plant seeds as a favour. These can be inscribed with super cute messaging – ‘watch our love grow’ and similar and again, you’ll probably be surprised at the positive reaction you receive.
