What does yellow and grey make you think of? It makes me think of driftwood on the beach with the sun in its sky, buttercups sitting under slate rooftops and bright blooms near gravel paths. They are two colours which bring out each other’s subtle shade but can also be bold where directed.

Many a wedding has seen grey coupled with yellow and yellow coupled with grey. Some extend the grey into silver and make it a tri-palette, as I suppose all greys have hues of silver. It is a double act that lends itself well to all seasons, bolder shades for the cooler months, lighter variants for those lazy spring and summer days.

Yellow and grey are so well suited for a beach wedding that you will find it easy to incorporate the colours effortlessly; the yellow from the sun and the sand, the grey from the shells and headland paths. Paint some beach wood and create wedding sign posts for your guests and it’ll almost look like they’ve always been that way.

Of course, go bold, with sunflowers and dark grey combined. Dark grey bridesmaid dresses and suits for the men with accents of yellow make for a striking sight. The bright yellow balls that you see so often in this scheme and in others, of course, is called Craspedia. Use it; it is such a beautiful shade and if you’re going for a lighter touch, don’t worry, add a little cream and light foliage to level up the colours.
