On the long list of wedding decisions will be the photography and then, videography of your big day. Almost all couples will have someone designated to take some photographs of their wedding day, however whether to have a wedding video or not seems to divide couples. Here is our succinct list of pros and cons to help you decide.

Pros

Nothing Missed – If you don’t want to miss a detail of your wedding then a videographer is a good way to spend your budget. They will capture a lot of moments that you won’t actually see on the day – bride and grooms are busy bees of course! – and this is lovely to look back on.

Home Videos – This might seem like a simple point, but if you’re a family or a couple that has always had home videos, then surely having your wedding captured on video is a must?!

Family Memories – It’s a special time having all the family together, and so to look back on, with the guests of your wedding or in years to come with your own children pointing out all the different grandparents, aunts, uncles and so on can be really special.

Cons

Budget – A simple one! Another wedding cost, especially if you want the whole day captured.

Different Memories – How you remember your wedding day compared to the real time reality of the occasion might differ. You might wish to keep the haze of your wedding day in your mind rather than seeing it from another point of view, which you weren’t actually a part of. Seeing it on the screen in quite a literal way might take away from the magic a little… You decide!

Another Guest – If you are having an intimate wedding day, or even if you are just quite a private person, having a photographer as well as a videographer following you on your special day might seem a little intimidating. You might love it, but just remember how much thought you’ve given to your guest list to then have 2 strangers close to you on the day.
